Hendrina coal offers a washable, low-sulphur product with both export and domestic applications. Raw calorific values range from 19 to 26 MJ/kg, with ash between 12% and 26%. Washability results across eleven boreholes at relative density 1.8 returned an average yield above 80%.

Export

The washed product maps to the RB2/RB3 band on gross calorific value, with sulphur within the 1% level against which seaborne buyers price. Final grade remains subject to confirmation on a net-as-received basis and full-scale plant washability.

Domestic

Raw underground 4 Seam at approximately 20 MJ/kg and below 23.32% ash is positioned for Eskom and industrial specifications. Discard and middlings can be directed into inland markets.
