Mwalimu operates its own inland haulage fleet, more than 75% settled and near final payment. This provides direct control over mine-to-siding or mine-to-port scheduling and turns haulage into a known internal cost.

Coal journey
Seven steps from seam to ship.

Coal is sourced from Mwalimu MMC Hendrina and, where applicable, third-party producers in the Witbank and Ermelo coalfields.

Product is crushed, screened and washed to specification.

Sampling and quality control are completed using ISO methods, with certification before dispatch.

Mwalimu's fleet hauls product to a siding or directly by road when the netback supports it.
- 05
Product moves through the TFR coal line to Richards Bay, subject to siding allocation and slot management.
- 06
Coal is stockpiled and blended at the terminal to contracted grade.

Cargo is loaded and sold FOB against agreed documentary terms.

Maputo — secondary route
Grindrod's Matola coal terminal provides an alternative route and may offer a shorter haul from Mpumalanga when rail slots or terminal windows tighten.
